An unusual antique sterling silver pin or brooch.
It is a squared shield shaped pin with a heraldic crest design featuring a rampant lion, there is a banner with the letters W. H. S. G.
Below there is the text: For excellence in drilling 1910, obviously presented as a medal or award.
On the reverse the pin is fully hallmarked for sterling silver, Birmingham Assay Office, 1909, maker John Linegar.
There are also the letters E. M. F which is possibly the initials of the person this was presented to.
Very unusual, it is quite heavy for a small piece.
It has a c type clasp fastener.
Condition:
Good used condition overall, minor signs of use and wear, light surface wear and some patina.
Approx measurements:
1.5" length,
1.10" width at the widest point
