A truly wonderful antique star brooch or pin.
It is a bar style brooch mounted with a large gold star set with creamy split pearls and bordered with cobalt blue enamel.
Celestial jewellery is said to bestow special powers to the wearer, stars in particular are said to provide a sense of guidance and direction.
The brooch has a slim gold bar and a gold pin and advanced c clasp fastener.
It is Unmarked, tests as 9ct gold, dating to the Edwardian era, the star is a little earlier than the bar and has been added later, Victorian era.
A universal piece that could be worn as a brooch, tie pin or cravat pin.
Condition:
Good used condition overall, light surface wear commensurate with age, slight bend to the end of the pin.
