Antique Victorian bulldog brooch, enamelled

A fine and rare antique, Victorian era enamelled bulldog brooch.

This beautiful piece has been very finely hand enamelled with a sweet portrait of a bulldog, obviously a very beloved dog, the portrait is of a high quality.

The portrait sits in an openwork gilt metal mount with beading to the top and bottom.

The reverse is enamelled in a mid tone eggshell blue.

It is very lightweight and easy to wear, a delicate and fine piece.

It is unmarked, mid Victorian c1870s, English make.

Condition:
Good used condition overall, some very light surface wear commensurate with age, nibbles to the edging of the blue enamel on the reverse.
