Isn't this dainty antique 9ct gold chick brooch just the sweetest thing?

It features a textured gold chick with half an egg, the chick having emerged from its egg, contained within a lucky wishbone.

Stacked full of Victorian symbolism this small antique brooch is mighty with meaning.

The chick and chick hatching from the egg traditionally symbolise new beginnings or starting a new chapter, the wishbone has always been a symbol of good luck.

The chick and egg can also be symbolic of Easter and the new beginnings of Christ.

It has an old c type pin and clasp fastener.

Very versatile and wearable today, this would make a great tie or cravat pin, lapel brooch or even a hat adornment.

Marks and era:
Victorian era, c1890s, stamped 9ct to the reverse.

Condition:
Fair used condition overall, light surface wear commensurate with age, top half of the wishbone bent slightly out of shape, one of the chicks feet is slightly detached and soft solder can be found at the feet and on the reverse of the brooch, pin slightly loose in the clasp.
