A beautiful early Victorian mourning brooch or pin.
A small sized brooch but with plenty of detailing, it has a single central rose cut diamond set into silver, surrounded by a chased and engraved 9ct gold border.
The brooch is enamelled in black with the words In Memory Of in gold fancy gothic script with the outermost rim in the same chased and engraved gold.
The reverse is engraved LC Ob 16th Feb 1843.
It has an old C type clasp fastener this has a past repair.
Unmarked it tests as 9ct gold, English make early Victorian.
Condition:
Good used condition overall, signs of use and wear commensurate with age, some small marks near the clasp and evidence of a repair to the clasp, couple of small surface chips to the enamel.
