A stunning antique Victorian Scottish silver and paste brooch.
An engraved silver base set with raised colourful paste stones in various bright colours; citrus yellow, Amethyst purple and cerise pink.
The brooch is set to the centre with a large Cairngorm citrine paste stone in a raised claw mount, this is a rich orange / cognac colour which is open backed so is influenced by the colours worn behind it, it appears brighter on white and darker on black.
It is a fairly large sized brooch.
A beautiful and cheerful antique piece with lovely pops of colour against the cool silver.
The mounts and pin are made with silver plated metal, the main circle is silver.
It fastens with an old C type clasp and pin fastener.
Unmarked, tests as sterling silver, C1880s.
Condition:
Good used condition overall, some light surface wear commensurate with age,overall patina, a few tiny dings to the reverse, some surface wear to the paste, the large paste has nibbles and a small surface fissure.
