A beautiful antique, late Victorian era sterling silver locket brooch.

It is a rectangular shape with aesthetic manner engraving to the front which features a Swallow in flight, the Swallow often symbolised safe travel or safe return.

This brooch is so full of sentiment, probably given to the recipient as a promise piece or love token.

It is a locket back brooch with a compartment to the reverse and a lift out glazed panel, this has been filled with rough cut amethyst but could be used to store a tiny keepsake or a lock of hair.

The locket compartmemt is very loose in the setting though as is the glazed panel too so it would be a good idea to secure it with something but I didn't seal it up in case the new owner wanted to swap out the amethyst for something personal.

It has an old C type clasp and is marked silver.

Late Victorian era, c1890s

Approx measurements:
1.30" width
1.10" length
Weighs approx 6.15 grams

Condition:
Good used condition overall, locket panel and glass are very loose.
