A stunning antique, Victorian mourning locket.

It is made from carved onyx with a beautiful faceted cut edge.

The front of the locket is adorned with an applied 18ct yellow gold monogram, ACM in fancy script and set with pretty creamy seed pearls.

The verso has a locket back with a small portrait set in there of a girl in white shawls, this is set behind an oval glass panel and has a rosey gold bezel frame.

To the top of the locket there is a chunky 9ct yellow gold bale.

A truly stunning piece of late Victorian jewellery, full of sentiment and finely crafted, unmarked but tests as 9ct and 18ct, English make.

Shown in the picture on a contemporary organza cord for illustration, it is a very heavy and well made piece.

Condition:
Very good overall with signs of use and wear, commensurate with age, some light surface scratches to the bale, a small dark mark on the gold at the front in one area, pearls are in good condition.

Approx measurements:
2.5" height with bale / jump ring
1.5" width
30.75 grams weight
