A handsome vintage Art Deco era 9ct gold, Carnelian signet ring.

The ring has a large rectangular Carnelian claw set to the front, the stone has a pale banded layer on top of the rich deep, red orange.

The pale layer reflects different tones in different lights from a pale blue to white, it has not been engraved so could be personalised with a crest or initials, Carnelian with this pale overlay look fantastic when carved, revealing the rich orange under layer.

It has decorative chunky shoulders with vertical and horizontal indent detailing.

The ring has full hallmarks for 9ct gold but they are mostly worn away, the ring tests as 9ct gold.

Signet rings derive their name from the Latin for signature, they were popular throughout history in men's jewellery and were often carved with family crests or signatures and used as stamps or intaglios, later they remained popular as a fashion choice and they have remained a popular piece of mens jewellery since their creation.

Condition:
Fair used condition overall, there are some surface marks / scratches to the gold, some thinning of the band at the back with a possible previous resize, the Carnelian stone rattles slightly in the setting but still appears to be secure.
