Vintage Carnelian and Marcasite beetle brooch, sterling silver

A wonderful vintage Art Deco revival beetle brooch.

The style is reminiscent of the Egyptian revival jewellery of the Art Deco era.

It is crafted in sterling silver and is a fairly heavy piece for the size, the wings are made from carved and polished rich orangey red Carnelian and the beetle has red paste eyes though one is missing.

A gorgeous vintage brooch in a popular design, it has a safety style catch and pin fastener.

Marled on the underside of the body 925 for sterling silver, c1980s

Condition:
Good used condition overall, light surface wear commensurate with age and use, missing one paste eye.
